Thank you, Julie. I wasn't sure whether to make this one a post or not, as she was obviously special to us, but unknown to many. Glad it still resonates! She was a one off!!!
The things she used to say most were 'Ela' (Come here - I want you), or 'Katse, Katse' (sit down, sit down!). She loved a good gossip. When we had a new sofa delivered, she told the delivery man to take all the plastic to her house so she could sew it into little nut bags!! When we took her to the 'Steki' cafe at the end of our road for fizzy orange, she sat on the balcony with her feet up, like it was a night out at the Proms! And when gave her a lift to the dentist, and she sat in the back of the car and waved at everyone through the village like the Queen!!! She was a good laugh. We really miss her!

I wished I could meet Katerina. Thank you.
Ah - I wish you'd met her too! The more the merrier for Katerina. She loved visitors
Suzie and I do miss her… and her mischief.
Mischief! Very good word for her!
Aww bless her! She sounds like an amazing lady. You’ve really brought her alive with this post. What’s your name again 🤣

I want to know more!
Ha! Maybe if I ever expand into a book about our time in Crete, there will definitely be a chapter (or more) on Katerina. She was a one-off!
She sounds like a real character. So good that you got to know her and spend some time with her. A real ray of sunshine and cheer x
Hi Claire I love reading your snippets of life in Crete. I found this one very moving. Thankyou xx Julie
