Really interesting and informative piece. From our village house at the top of Kritsa (Pergiolikia), we have a wonderful view of the flight of these creatures. Initially, we thought the birds were eagles, as they are so big! ♥️
Marvellous creatures. A couple of years ago as we were driving 'across the top' from Kroustas to the south coast (and before the tarmac was put down!) we watched several Griffon Vultures circling above the rocks. We turned a corner and perched at various levels in one of the pine trees, were 5 or 6 babies, flapping their wings and calling to their parents. They were so ugly, they were beautiful.!We see far more now than we ever used to, which is surely a good sign. Lovely piece, Claire.
Thank you. We once saw a troupe of about 30 as we were.coming back across the island from the Matala side. It was like something out of a movie, as they were right above us! And we watched three buzzards hunting above our house on Sunday, calling to each other. Such a distinct sound.

How come even the Vultures of Greece are prettier to look at! (For contrast, google Turkey Vultures 😢)
😉
Loved that Claire 😍 Beautifully written and stunning pics xx
Thanks, Laura!
Just WOW! How interesting and what amazing photographs. Never thought I’d think of a vulture as being beautiful. Thanks Claire x
